MUMS are delighted to announce TWO opportunities for NEW student works to be performed in next semesters Chamber Concert (17th February 2018). These works will be in the first half of the concert alongside Hussey’s ‘Twisted Skyscape’ Details for the works are as follows:
(1) A work of about 8 minutes for the same instruments as ‘Twisted Skyscape, as follows:
3 flutes, 2 oboes, 3 B flat clarinets, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, 2 alto saxes, tenor sax, baritone sax, 2 bassoons and contrabassoon.
(2) A work of about 8 minutes, including keyboard instruments and guitar(s). The idea of this work is to give opportunities to instrumental players that often don’t get the opportunity to play in MUMS ensembles. Exact instrumentation can be discussed once the successful applicant is selected. An example of instrumentation would be a piece for 2 pianos, celesta, keyboard, electronics, guitar and voice.
*** If you are interested, you need to contact email@example.com by Monday 27th November at the latest. List the opportunity for which you would like to be considered (or both), why you believe you would be a suitable choice, and attach ONE or TWO PDF scores of your music to the email. YOU MUST acknowledge that, if accepted, you will have a clear enough schedule to complete the music by the deadline, and be in attendance for rehearsals and the concert.***
Your materials will be viewed by three members of staff and the decision communicated as soon as possible after the deadline.
