Want to help run MUMS next year? Got a brilliant idea on how to make our society even better? Now is your chance to stand!
Elections will be on Wednesday 14th February 2018, and there will be a link to upload your manifesto onto the MUMS website closer to the time. Only current MUMS members are eligible to stand, and all members will be able to vote in the afternoon, online via an email link.
To run for one of the elected positions - President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer, Social Secretary (x2) or General Member (x3) - you will need to provide a single page manifesto / poster which will be available to be seen by all of our members - so keep it appropriate! Elections for Vice-President will take place at a later date, along with any positions that may have been left unfilled.
Applications for appointed / interviewed positions (Concert Managers, Communications Officer, Web Administrator, Librarian, Personnel Team & Programming Team) will open after the elections, with the date to be decided by the 2018/19 MUMS President.
This year the MUMS AGM will be held at a later date, on Wednesday 18th April 2018.

The president oversees and guides the society from an artistic, financial and logistical position, and are the public face of the society. They have overall responsibility for the society, and must have a passion for improving the quality of practical music making at the University of Manchester.
The secretary is the general administrator of the society, and organises all committee meetings and the AGM. The secretary is responsible for signing up new members, and making sure their details are held correctly in the database. They will also work closely with the Communications Officer to ensure that information about our concerts and events reach as wide an audience as possible.
The treasurer maintains the MUMS accounts and books, by keeping all records of transactions and reconciling with bank statements. They also have to submit applications for funding / sponsorship, and produce budgets so that Publicity and the Programming team can hire music and produce flyers / programmes etc.
Social Secretary (x2)
The social secretaries organise the Christmas and Summer Balls, and as many other socials as they can! As well as organising the socials, the secretaries will also have to promote them, and also work with the treasurer to ensure socials help raise money for the society.
The publicity officer is responsible for putting together a team of designers to produce the posters and flyers that advertise all of MUMS concerts and socials. They will need to organise photo-shoots for soloists if necessary, and work closely with the Programming Team to ensure all material is produced accurately and quickly once concert programmes are confirmed.
General Member (x3)
The general members work on many projects in the MUMS calendar, from organising the Grade1athon, to Hoodies and helping the Vice-President organise the MUMS tour. General Members also provide an extra pair of hands signing up new members, and helping the Publicity Officer distribute marketing material.
