The University of Manchester Brass Band was formed in October 2011 and has quickly gone on to become one of the finest University brass groups in the country. The band provides regular performing opportunities for brass players in the University through the brass band medium, and consists of both music and non-music students from The University of Manchester. In the past the band has been on a tour to Ireland, played with the world famous Fairey Band and after narrowly (and contentiously) missing out first place in the national UniBrass competition in 2014, went on to win overall by a clear margin, plus secured several other prizes in 2015" This year the band already has several very exciting plans in the pipeline and it promises to be the band’s most successful year yet!
Rehearsals take place on a Friday at 17.15-20.00 in G16 of the The Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama. All prospective members must take a short audition, consisting of prepared extracts and sight reading. For more information on auditions or the band in general, please contact the band manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
